The Oxford of the East gets its very own Book Festival: National Book Trust, India Announces Pune Book Festival 2023 | Frontlist

National Book Trust, India (Ministry of Education, GoI) is organising the Pune Book
Festival from 16-24 December 2023 at the Fergusson College Grounds in Pune, Maharashtra,
with an estimated 5 Lakh+ footfall.

Pune, with its esteemed educational institutions, fosters a vibrant community of scholars,
writers, and intellectuals. The city's literary landscape seamlessly blends traditional and
contemporary influences. In hosting the first edition of the Pune Book Festival, NBT-India
endeavours to mirror the diversity and intellectual curiosity of the populace, celebrating the
written word as a bridge between the traditional and the modern.

The Pune Book Festival 2023 will offer a diverse array of activities, including children's
programs, cultural performances, and literary sessions. With over 200 stalls, a delightful food
court, and specially curated engagement activities for University and College students, the
festival will establish a dynamic space for literary exploration and community connection.
Along with publishers of national repute, NBT-India is set to showcase its extensive book
collection in English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada and various other Indian languages,
inviting attendees to delve into the richness of the country's literary landscape. With a mission
to create a platform for readers to engage with their favourite authors, participate in
thought-provoking discussions, and immerse themselves in the vibrant world of literature, the
festival aims to be a hub of literary interaction and exploration.

Drawing inspiration from the successes of previous festivals in Gomti, Ladakh, Ujjain, Shimla
and Shillong, NBT-India reaffirms its dedication to nurturing a passion for books and a reading
culture with the Pune Book Festival. This week-long extravaganza assures literary delights,
offering a diverse range of engaging activities tailored for readers of all ages.

In a Press Meet held today at Ferguson College Pune, Prof. Milind Sudhakar Marathe,
Chairman NBT-India talked in detail about the book festival to be held, various activities and
engagements for every section of the society especially the youth to connect them with the
world of books. On this occasion, the logo of Pune Book Festival was also launched.
